SUNGROW Inverter – EMS

This guide will show you how to connect the SUNGROW Inverter to the EMS Panel. It will also take you through the setup and parameters required on the inverter to ensure communications to the EMS Panel are successful, to monitor and manage your device remotely.

NB!! A stable internet connection is required to install and set up the parameters for the SUNGROW mobile application.

Steps to follow:

  1. SUNGROW SG110CX Connection Setup.
  2. Configure the SUNGROW Parameters on the mobile application.
  3. Continue with Cloud Setup.
1. SUNGROW SG110CX Connection Setup
A. Connecting RS-485 to a Single Inverter.

Connecting Inverter to RS-485 Connector Pin:

  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 1 A1 OUT into RS-485 Connector Pin A+ (3).
  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 1 B1 OUT into RS-485 Connector Pin B- (1).
  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 1 PE OUT into RS-485 Connector Pin GND (4).
B. Connecting RS-485 with Multiple Inverters.

Connecting Inverters together:

  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 2 A1 OUT into SUNGROW Inverter 1 A1 IN.
  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 2 B1 OUT into SUNGROW Inverter 1 B1 IN.
  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 2 PE OUT into SUNGROW Inverter 1 PE IN.

Connecting Inverter to RS-485 Connector Pin:

  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 1 A1 OUT into RS-485 Connector Pin A+ (3).
  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 1 B1 OUT into RS-485 Connector Pin B- (1).
  • Wire SUNGROW Inverter 1 PE OUT into RS-485 Connector Pin GND (4).
C. Connecting the RS485 Connector Pin to the EMS Panel

Once you have wired the SUNGROW into the RS485 connector pin, plug the connector into the COM2 port on the side of the panel.

2. Configure the SUNGROW Parameters.
Step 1

Download the iSolarCloud Mobile App.
You can download the iSolarCloud mobile application from the App Store: iSolarCloud or from the Google Play Store: iSolarCloud.

Step 2

Get ready by noting down the name and password of your home WiFi network, and also make sure to retrieve the serial number and password of your SUNGROW inverter.

Locate the serial number on the side of your inverter; the correct one will be accompanied by a password directly below it. For instance:

Serial number: A181 XXX XXXX (beginning with the letter A followed by ten numbers)
Password: XXXXXXXX (eight numbers)

Consider taking a photo of the sticker for convenience.

Step 3

Launch the application and initiate the registration process. During this registration, you’ll be prompted to input your email address. Following the email entry, you’ll be required to enter a code. Please check your email for this code, as it is sent immediately after entering your email address.

Once you’ve entered the code, proceed to follow the onscreen instructions. This setup process will guide you through the WiFi connection steps.

Step 4

Once you have completed the previous steps, you need to change a few of the settings in order for the inverter to communicate with the EMS Panel.

Navigate to the plant, select the device, once you are connected to the device, click on the More option at the bottom right, this will take you to a menu with some more options. In this menu, select Settings.

Within Settings, select Operation Parameters.

  • Within Operation Parameters select Regular Parameters.
  • Within Operation Parameters select Other Parameters.

  • Within Regular Parameters, enable Transparent Transmission Via Standby RS-485 Port.
  • Within Other Parameters, enable Bypass Priority Mode (BPM).

Back within the Settings menu, select Power Regulation Parameters.

Within Power Regulation Parameters, select Active Power Regulation.

  • Within Active Power Regulation, make sure that your page looks like the page below.
    • NB!! Ensure that Active Power Limit is enabled.

Back within the Settings menu, select Communication Parameters.

Within Communication Parameters, select Serial Port Parameters.

  • Within Serial Port Parameters, set your Device Address to a unique number.
    • When adding any additional inverters, make sure that there are no duplicated Device Addresses.
  • Within Serial Port Parameters, set Baud Rate to 9600.

3. Continue with Cloud Setup.

Now that you have successfully connected your device, you can continue to setting up the device on the cloud
