Device Dashboard

The device dashboard is the main view of all of the device types in the Polar Portal. it is where configurations are done for the spific devices,where the live data from the devices are viewed and where one navigates between the different views and configurators for the devices. 

The device dashboard is customizable in terms of what tiles are shown and where and also allows the user to select exactly what readings they require.  

This guide will explain each of the areas, their functions and lead into section 2 which will explain the different editing capabilities of the device Dashboard. 

Each section is numbered and described in detail below: 

1 – Device Name

This window displays the serial number of the device being viewed and its name 

2 – Navigation Tabs

These tabs allow you navigate to the various pages on a device in the field. 

  • Live – Live dashboard of the Device, this is the landing page when clicking on a device’s dashboard 
  • History – The History tab is where the system will show graphs and historical data polled from the device in the field. 
  • Alerts – The alerts tab is where alerts can be setup and managed for the device. 
  • Errors – The Errors tab will show errors on the device or controller being monitored, this is only available on supported controllers. 
  • Schedulers – The Scheduluers tab is used to setup and edit schedules on the device. 
  • Programming – The programming tab is where one can view and manipulate the raw Modbus registers of the device. 

3 – Device Information

This window on the page wshows the information of the device that is being viewed. From left to right the information it is showing is as follows: 

LicenseShows the current status of the licence on the Polar Gateway that the license is connected to.

Status – This will show the current status of the device or controller attached to the Gateway. The ability to show the status will depend on the controller.

Network – This is current network status of the Gateway, It will show either connected or disconnected depending on if the Gateway has connection to the Polar Portal or not.
If showing disconnected there will be not data showing on the device and the device status will switch to disconnected.  

Signal – The signal status show the signal strength or latency from the Gateway in the field, For the GSM/LTE Gateway this will give us a signal strength of the connection, hovering a mouse over this block will show the exact signal strenght percentage. For Ethernet unit it will show the latency from the Gateways connection to the Polar Portal. 

4 – Edit Function

This window shows us 3 things,

  • Last updated – when the last request for update from the device in the field was done. When the last readings were polled on this live screen. 
  • Refresh Icon – This button allows one to force a refresh on the data. this icon will auto-refresh every minute to get the latest readings from the device. 
  • Pencil Icon – This button will open up the edit feature for the date tiles. 

5 – Group

This is the name of the group of tiles showing together, these group names can be set per tile in the Live Dasbooard edit section. These groups will also group the data of each tile into the same graph on the History page. 

6 – Data Tile 

This box is showcasing the Data tile, this is a unique tile for each data type that can be polled on the polar system. Each data tile is considered as a tag or monitoring point fromt he device in the field. 

7 – Actions

The actions or Action Buttons section will have a number of control buttons, these buttons will be on the live screen by default and will depend on the device type. They can be triggered on the system manually and will send the command to the device in the field in real time.

8 – Weather & Map

The weather and map functions show the devices GPS location on the map and current weather for that region. The Gateways do not have GPS and this location needs to be set upon installation of the Gateway.
